ACCIDENT PICTURES

In an instant, in the twinkling of an eye!

2002 Hyundai

October 18, 2003, 12 miles south of Republic Washington, on a remote forest and mountain lined highway.

No “aid” anywhere near.

It was a high speed head-on collision.  The oncoming truck driver said he came into our lane to avoid a bear entering the road.  The truck driver was okay.  His truck ended upside down, down a bank, in a shallow part of the adjoining river.

The truck driver had the required-by-law minimum amount of insurance.  His $25,000 (each) insurance was quickly exhausted.  Mike and Leslie’s injuries are probably already approaching (if not exceeding) ¼ million dollars in medical – more surgeries are still needed.

There was no money to replace our new car.  The insurance paid off “most” of our car loan.  Friends gave us a wonderful van.

Mike still has mini-panic attacks while driving when negotiating a high-speed curve or where animals might suddenly appear.  We would like to go to the accident scene, but it is an unnerving prospect.

(The large spring in the engine area is from the truck that hit us.)

How do we feel about it now?  Blessed to be alive and still with each other.  Thankful we know Jesus personally, as He has been our strength and provider through it all.  Things could have been, could be, MUCH worse!
